1) India’s third navigation satellite IRNSS-1C was launched and placed successfully in its pre-designated orbit on 16 October 2014. This launch was executed by ISRO from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota at 1.32 a.m. Which rocket of ISRO launched this satellite? – PSLV-C26

IRNSS-1C is the third of the seven navigation satellites in the Indian Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) and has wide-ranging applications in terrestrial, aerial and marine navigation. India has proposed to launch seven navigational satellites under the IRNSS series to put in place India’s navigation system on par with US’ Global Positioning System (GPS). The first two satellites in the series, IRNSS 1A and IRNSS 1B were also launched from Sriharikota on 1 July 2013 and 4 April 2014 respectively.

Explanation: IndiGo is the largest airline company in India by market share and is the only airline among the four biggest currently operating to consistently report profits. It signed an MOU with France-based Airbus Industrie to buy 250 of its A320neo aircrafts to expand its fleet. Delivery of the 250 aircraft would start from 2018. These new aircraft will allow IndiGo to retire its older aircraft and keep the average age of its fleet to around six years, helping to keep operating costs down.
